In line with our mission to nurture holistic Christian development, the Student Christian Organisation of Malawi Associate Fellowship (SCOMAF) successfully convened a transformative Couples' Seminar for all Zones in Lilongwe. The event, held on 6th December 2025 at the serene Eximius Lodge, marked a significant and long-awaited milestone, bringing together married couples after a hiatus of nearly four years.
The primary objective was to strengthen the relational foundations of our SCOMAF couples, recognizing that peaceful, thriving homes are the bedrock from which effective ministry and service to God spring forth. The atmosphere was one of joyful reunion, eager anticipation, and a shared commitment to growth.
The seminar featured profound, Biblically-rooted teachings delivered by esteemed facilitators. Reverend Yassin Gama ministered with great wisdom and clarity on two cornerstone topics. He first provided deep scriptural insight into "Understanding the Position/Role of Wife and Husband," fostering a God-centered perspective on partnership. With pastoral sensitivity, he then addressed "Marriage Commitment and the Impact of Infidelity," highlighting the sacredness of the covenant and the profound consequences of choices, guiding couples towards healing and fortified fidelity.
Complementing this, the dynamic duo of Mr. and Mrs. Mlowoka brought the teachings into the practical fabric of daily life. They engaged couples on the vital subject of "Communication in Marriage," offering tools for healthy, respectful, and understanding dialogue. With grace and openness, they also explored God's design for "A Satisfying Sexual Life within Marriage," affirming it as a gift for unity, pleasure, and strength within the marital bond.
The impact of the gathering was palpable. Participants, reconnecting after years, expressed immense gratitude for the dedicated space to invest in their marriages. A clear and unanimous recommendation emerged from the fellowship: the need for such gatherings to be held more frequently. There was a strong identification of numerous other topics requiring exploration to better equip couples to navigate life's challenges and, consequently, to serve God within SCOM and their communities with greater unity, focus, and passion. The consensus was clear: A Peaceful Home enables Effective Service.
Beyond the structured sessions, the seminar provided invaluable opportunity for fellowship and strategic relationship-building. Couples were given dedicated time to know one another beyond mere acquaintanceship, sharing experiences, prayers, and encouragement. These new and deepened connections formed a strengthened network of mutual support, fostering a true sense of being a family within the SCOMAF fellowship.
In conclusion, the 2025 SCOMAF Couples' Seminar was more than an event; it was a divine appointment for renewal and reconnection. It successfully ignited crucial conversations, provided Biblical and practical tools for marital health, and reinforced the truth that strong marriages are indispensable to our collective mission. As we move forward, we are committed to acting on the participants' feedback, ensuring that nurturing the "home sanctuary" remains a priority, for from such sanctuaries, God's love and service flow most powerfully.
